Levofloxacin is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation CAUTION Levofloxacin is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby. warnings Driving Levofloxacin may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affect your vision. Do not drive until your vision is clear. warnings Kidney CAUTION Levofloxacin should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Levofloxacin may be needed.
