How it works
It is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

warnings Alcohol SAFE It is generally safe to consume alcohol with Ciprofloxacin. warnings Pregnancy WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS Ciprofloxacin may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation Ciprofloxacin is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. Baby should be closely monitored for development of fever, loss of appetite and diarrhea. In case, any of the above happens please inform your doctor immediately. warnings Driving Ciprofloxacin may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive. warnings Kidney CAUTION Ciprofloxacin should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Ciprofloxacin may be needed. Please consult your doctor. warnings Liver Ciprofloxacin is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data aVialable suggests that dose adjustment of Ciprofloxacin may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. Inform your doctor if you develop any signs of jaundice like yellowing of eyes and skin, itching, and clay colored stools while taking this medicine.
