Azithromycin is a Macrolide antibiotic, so it acts by inhibiting protein synthesis of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal element. Thus shows bacteriostatic (stops bacteria from reproducing) or bactericidal (kills the bacteria) activity depending on the organism and drug concentration.
How to use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Azithromycin may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
