How it works
It is an anti-diabetic medication. It inhibits an enzyme that helps in conversion of carbohydrates to glucose. This slows down carbohydrate digestion/absorption thereby preventing increase in blood glucose after meals.

Alcohol CAUTION It is unsafe to consume alcohol with this Tablet. Taking acarbose with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. warnings Pregnancy PROBABLY SAFE it is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. warnings Driving SAFE Acarbose Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive. warnings Kidney CAUTION Acarbose Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of this may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
