Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker. It blocks the action of calcium on the heart and blood vessels, thereby widening the blood vessels and allowing more blood and oxygen to reach the heart. This reduces blood pressure and decreases the chances of angina (chest pain).

Alcohol Interaction with alcohol is unknown. Please consult your doctor. warnings Pregnancy WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS it may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation SAFE it is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby. warnings Driving it may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive. warnings Kidney SAFE it is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of it is recommended. However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advised while you are taking this medicine. warnings Liver CAUTION it should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
